Playground Kos

dispatch 006

My neighborhood is vibrating with the promise of summer. For someone who enjoys the mundane it doesn't take much to excite me. Of late, when I take my daily walk to work or around the streets that make up my community, I have been absolutely dazzled. Of course, this happens every year. Blue and white cotton clouds backdrop every shade of green in creation, verdant and alive. Chlorophyll-filled leaves pulse boldly on the dark, textured cinnamon to ash brown bark of the sycamore, oak, pine and maple trees. The ripe buds of the linden and honeysuckle explode with the scent of warm creamy florals that are carried by the recent dry breezes, both of them delightfully harmonizing hallelujah. I am anticipating humid nights that hold the aromas hostage in the air from block to block and rain-soaked evenings that baptize the streets with a blanket of salty, wet petrichor. That is my praise and worship.

Until then, tonight I'll go on a walk with some mint tea in hand and harvest linden from various trees nearby. It will be dried to go in tea blends and tincture to share with friends.
